Best tips for a flawless face!

Know your skin type – oily, dry, normal, or combination. Knowing your skin type means you can tailor your products to match your skin properly. For example, i’m oily skinned therefore I avoid intense moisturising products/foundations and I stick to matte products.

Primer – finding the primer that is perfect for your skin type. Primer is the perfect smoothing product which leaves a flawless finish and mixes with your foundation. It is essential to the perfect base.

Application of foundation – There are a few different ways to apply your foundation to create a perfect finish and it is NOT with your hands.

  1. Dense stifling brush – Buffing your foundation in circular motions makes your foundation sits in your skin and not on your skin and that way it won’t slide off.
  2. Beauty blender or foundation sponge – Using a beauty blender damp will sheer out thick foundation but also keep it full coverage and blend perfectly into your skin leaving a flawless base.
C360_2015-11-04-12-42-29-988Setting spray – This is essential for keeping make up fresh and flawless and a respray throughout the day freshens make up and makes it glow again. This is because setting spray oxidises with foundation making it settle perfectly into the face.

Exfoliation and moisturising regularly – Letting a build up of product stay on your skin will turn into dirt and will therefore leave you with redness and spots. Regularly keeping on top of your skincare regime will help you keep that hollywood glow by removing dead skin cells and prevent skin looking cake and will hydrate your face.

Current Make Up Wishlist and What to be looking out for!

Here are the top 5 make up items that i’m currently lusting over, and I WILL be purchasing in the near future.

Too Faced Born This Way Foundation

I love any Too Faced product, but this foundation from the reviews and swatches I’ve seen looks to die for!! Its full coverage, dewy and luminous , everything we desire in a foundation however if you’re oily like me you may want to carry a powder round with you! On this image is beauty guru Shaaaanxo and you can see how amazing this looks. It comes in around £29 and you can purchase this from http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_154614104999_-1

Anastasia Beverly Hills Illuminator

LOOK AT THAT GLOW… is all I can say. These creamy powder highlighters come in 4 shades, so hollywood, peach nectar, riviera and starlight. I’d be happy with any of them, they’re super pigmented and glowy and this will be my next purchase!! The shade in the picture is peach nectar. They come in around £28!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Cream Contour kit

Here pictured is Beauty guru Carli Bybel deciding whether the ABH cream contour kits are a hit or miss. I haven’t personally tried the kits yet as I’ve been debating buying them for a while. This is because I’ve always used separate items to highlight and contour , such as dark and light concealers and never thought to use an actual kit.
It’s also quite pricey coming in around £39.99 but the beauty gurus of the world all say its worth it!!

My favourite lip glosses and liquid lipsticks for Autumn | Review and Swatches

Favourite lipglosses

Certain colours we wear in Autumn really complement the colours in the air, the ground, the trees and usually we run with the theme of oranges, burgundy, browns and this applies to make up too.

I’ve picked out 4 lip colours that i feel will compliment all make up colours that are fall appropriate.

2 of them glossy lip colours and 2 liquid matte finish lipsticks.

Lipglosses

Smashbox legendary lip gloss in Disco Rose –

This colour is absolutely beautiful , a proper “glossy” gloss however it’s really pigmented so much so there doesn’t even need to be a lipstick underneath!! The rose shade is perfect for fall eyes , oranges, browns , purples etc. I’m gonna wear this colour for the rest of the year!! This was sent as a sample to me so I’m unsure of the price.

Chanel Lipgloss in 46 –

This lipgloss is absolutely to die for!!! Looks great over a brown lipstick or by itself. Its taupe/mauve shade is completely the colour of the season. Its versatile and will look good over purples, browns, nudes and pinks. Its a little pricey at £22 but will last you forever as you don’t need much for 1 application.

Liquid Lipsticks

MUA Luxe Velvet liquid lipstick in Halcyon

This bargain liquid lipstick is 100% one of the best I’ve ever used and at an amazing price of £4 you can’t go wrong. The consistency is thick but not too drying, the colour is nudey/pinkey/mauve shade and it lasts all day without flaking or drying, I’m going to buy every shade!!

Lime Crime Velvetine Collection in Salem –

This liquid lipstick is the bomb.com , the shade isn’t for the faint hearted as its extremely dark BUT should you dare to wear it I personally feel it will suit all skin tones in different ways. This particular lipstick is around £13 but much like the other one will completely last all day and night if you left it !! its creamy, super pigmented, quite difficult to apply because of the dark colour, does need a bit of practice! Once you have mastered it, is totally worth it.

How to find your perfect celebrity hair colour.

Its amazing how many hair colours that are actually available. All of us are guilty of looking at pictures of celebrities then taking said picture to our local salon (even me) only to be told our hair won’t end up that way. It’s disappointing.

However this picture gives us a rough guide into the different tones and styles that are available and what kind of skin tone do they suit?

Are you a bombshell blonde like taylor swift or a bodacious brunette like kim kardashian?

leave me a comment and let me know your favourite hair colour!

  • Top tips for tired skin:

Don’t forget to exfoliate!! It is sooo important to exfoliate your skin at least 2-3 times a week to prevent the build up of dead skin cells that cause skin to look and feel dull.

Drink plenty of water – hydration is the biggest factor in bright skin, drinking 2 litres of water a day will improve your health, help with weight management, and is great for your skin , hair and eyes.

Weekly face masks – Buy a mask that suits your skin type and consistently use it every week and you will see a difference. I use GlamGlow masks as they pull all oils out of my very oily skin!!

Plenty of sleep! – seems obvious but people don’t realise the value of a good sleep! , not only will it improve your health but it will prevent dark circles appearing under the  eye and stop skin from turning greyish in colour!

Buy a foundation suitable for your skin type – a lot of people will buy the latest foundation because its what everyone else uses ,but what they don’t realise is if its not suitable for your skin type (dry, oily, combination, normal) then its going to be no good at all! Foundation not suited to you won’t sit right on the skin therefore leaving the odd problem and not leaving it glowing!!

Get outside – Vitamin D has been proven to boost radiance in skin, we get our vitamin D from the Sun!

Hopefully this was of some use to you, if you have any questions list them below in a comment!

Contouring vs Strobing.

So you’ve only just got used to contouring – thats if you HAVE got used to it , perhaps you are just confused as the rest of us, however, there is now an easy way out ; STROBING. Its much less time consuming , and uses less products … but does it have the same effect as contouring?

What is strobing?
For strobing , you’ll need to dig out your best illuminating products, creams, liquids, powders, use it all!!

Strobing is designed to over highlight, focusing mainly on highlighter products. The products are supposed to be placed where the light would naturally hit your face (so, your cheekbones, brow bones, the centre of your forehead, down your nose, cupids bow, and on your chin.) So I would personally use a cream highlighter underneath your foundation and then a soft powder luminizer on top, more so on your cheekbones.

What is contouring?

Contouring is giving shape to an area of the face and enhancing the facial structure through makeup, using light and dark colours to highlight and shade the face. Contouring is designed to make facial features more defined, such as sharper cheekbones , narrower nose and smaller forehead. Celebs such as Kim Kardashian have really taken this trend off the ground and now everyone craves the sharp look! Its absolutely all about the blending and the brushes, totally worth investing in! Harsh lines are never cute.

So when should we do which?

Personally, i’m a greedy make up junkie and I love both all at the same time!!!
However, some would say that contouring is a full glam evening look, team with a sexy smokey eye and you’ll be on your way. This doesn’t mean that your daily routine can’t consist of chiselled cheek bones and a totally beat make up look!! Strobing is perfect for the low maintenance girl in a rush for work in the morning but a glam glow is appropriate at ALL times. FullSizeRender-3
